Holy heck, a new podcast! And it’s only been four months.
In this intrepid installment, the Kings of Cast discuss the unlikely ascension of Jinder Mahal, Smackdown’s diminishing of great stars, and the importance of characters worth watching in wrestling. Finally, we run through the cards for NXT: Takeover Brooklyn III and Summerslam, both taking place in our very backyard of New York City!
It’s January, so you know what that means! The Royal Rumble is upon us, and even though we’ve been crushingly disappointed the last few years, that doesn’t mean that we’ll feel the same way this year, right? Right? Someone please tell us that it will all be okay.
Anyway, the guys talk a bit about the best and worst of 2016, the WWE UK Championship Tournament, and what in the wide wide world of sports is going to happen in the most unpredictable rumble in ages.
It’s here, whether you want it or not. The podcast, naturally, you want, but Wrestlemania 32 is here, preceded by its scrappy younger sibling, NXT Takeover: Dallas. Will it be like this past summer, when the success of Takeover: Brooklyn overshadowed the larger Summerslam, or does the grandaddy of them all have a few more tricks up its wily sleeve?
The Kings of Cast break down both cards in agonizing detail, and, hopefully, entertain you along the way in another one of their marathon jaw-jacking sessions.
Everything’s just fine. Sure, John Cena is injured. Randy Orton is injured. Seth Rollins is injured. And yes, Cesaro, Sting, Tyson Kidd, and others are hurt, and maybe Daniel Bryan will never wrestle for WWE again, but everything’s fine! What else do you need when you have Roman Reigns and his buddy Dean Ambrose to cheer for?
The Kings of Cast also discuss the rumored signing of a bunch of New Japan’s finest, two different views on Bayley vs. Nia Jax, who will win the Royal Rumble, and what racist gimmick Shinsuke Nakamura will receive.
After several months MIA, the Kings of Cast (well, two of them) return to discuss the incredible changes that have taken place since Summerslam. Kevin Owens cleanly defeats the face of the company? The New Day is must-watch television? Damien Sandow is being horrifically wasted again? What is this world?! Plus, Dean Ambrose, potential Money in the Bank winners, madness on Lucha Underground and the potential demise of TNA. It’s quite a show, and we do it out of love. Or out of Matt’s kitchen.
