Raising the Briefcase No. 20 – Brand Split Personalities

the-miz-and-maryse-28934343-620x400First of all, apologies for the long delay between podcasts.

Second of all, sorry for the technical issues. You may notice a rapid beeping during certain parts of the show, and while we tried to eliminate them, it was to no avail. We hope to have them sorted out by the next time we come to you.

Anyway, we talk about TNA for way longer than we ever have, break down the brand split, make some No Mercy predictions that will be old by the time you listen to this, talk lovingly about The Miz and the glory of Smackdown, and listen to Dave tell us a horrible story about a sandwich.

Come and be entertained as we discuss the many, many, many belts of WWE.

Raising the Briefcase No. 17 – Everything is Terrible Forever

Daniel Bryan Retirement Image
Oh Captain, My Captain.

Well, maybe not forever. Still, things look grim as the boys talk about the retirement of Daniel Bryan and express his importance in their wrestling lives, the re-rise of Roman Reigns, the return of the Mac, why Undertaker would want to kill Shane-O in the first place, and how NXT Takeover: Dallas is almost certainly going to be better than Wrestlemania. Also, Ivan goes on a bit of a rant about how awesome Lucha Underground is.

Note: Lucha Underground is now available on iTunes if you’d like to watch it and don’t get El Rey Network. Support this incredible wrestling product!

Raising the Briefcase No. 16 – Do Not Panic

Cena Shoulder surgery

Everything’s just fine. Sure, John Cena is injured. Randy Orton is injured. Seth Rollins is injured. And yes, Cesaro, Sting, Tyson Kidd, and others are hurt, and maybe Daniel Bryan will never wrestle for WWE again, but everything’s fine! What else do you need when you have Roman Reigns and his buddy Dean Ambrose to cheer for?

The Kings of Cast also discuss the rumored signing of a bunch of New Japan’s finest, two different views on Bayley vs. Nia Jax, who will win the Royal Rumble, and what racist gimmick Shinsuke Nakamura will receive.

Raising the Briefcase No. 14 – The Next John Cena

Bayley and Izzy

A few hours before Hell in a Cell begins, listen to the Kings of Cast break down the card! They also gush about Takeover: Respect, wonder if they’ve we’ve witnessed Sting’s final match, create the Wyatt Family Jugband Jamboree, and decide who the next John Cena is. The answer, of course, is his Latino cousin, Juan Cena.

Alternatively, listen to the show AFTER Hell in a Cell, and see how wrong we were. The choice is yours! People Power!

Raising the Briefcase No. 10 – Briefcase of the Immortals

seth rollinsAfter what turned out to be quite a Wrestlemania, Ivan, Dave, and Matt sat down and talked for an exhaustive amount of time about the show and the implications thereof.  The best part of the podcast is how Ivan starts out by saying that this won’t be a typical long podcast, and it turns out to be super, super long.  Still, there’s a lot of entertainment here, and if you’re looking for funny and insightful wrestling discussion, you’ve come to the right place.

Raising the Briefcase No. 9 – Before the Reigns Come

brock-lesnar-wwe-champion-paul-heymanBrock is sticking around, having turned down UFC for three more years in the WWE.  Reigns says he can, and he will, but the biggest question is whether or not he should.  Ivan and Dave spend some time talking about NXT and the current state of WWE before diving headlong into Wrestlemania predictions.  Excitement is…tempered, but still there.  Wrestlemania is this Sunday, people.  Let’s get good and disappointed!

Raising the Briefcase No. 8 – The Agony and the Ecstasy

Roman wins...LOL?
Roman wins…LOL?

First off, apologies for the audio issues, as well as for the moments where Dave is hard to hear.  This was recorded en route to the Royal Rumble and on the return trip, as we attend the show live and chat about the show itself, the backlash facing one Roman Reigns, Lucha Underground, and the awesomeness that is Seth Rollins.

Raising The Briefcase No. 5 – In the Time of Love and Suplexes

Brock Lesnar Suplex

After a brutal beating at the hands of Brock Lesnar, can John Cena overcome the odds and defeat the Beast Incarnate?!  Probably.  Or maybe, just maybe, something interesting will happen!  The Kings of Cast break down the aftermath of Summerslam, Breaking Bellas, and whether or not a race-centric stable works in the aftermath of Ferguson.

Raising the Briefcase No. 4 – Meet the New Champ, Same as the Old Champ

Cena shrugs in victory!
“What, me change or evolve?”

John Cena is champion again, shocking no one…but Chris Jericho is back!  But Daniel Bryan is still horribly injured…but AJ Lee is back!  Bad News Barrett got some bad news…but the Miz is back!  Can the returns of beloved (or in the Miz’s case, beloved only by Matt) superstars make up for the disappointments all around us?  Tune in to find out.

Recorded on July 5, 2014.

Raising the Briefcase No. 3 – Releases and the Hounds

JTG
Never forget.

Wow, this episode ended up being pretty long.  Still, there’s not much downtime in this shockingly full show.  The guys discuss the eleven released WWE employees (NOT JTG!), Stardust, the break-up of The Shield, potential Money in the Bank winners, and debuting Matt’s new favorite segment, The Rusev Report!
